Episode 23: Ultrarunning icon Catra "Dirt Diva" Corbett on sobriety, mental health

To say Catra Corbett is recognizable would be the mother of all understatements. Eternally neon-clad, tatted from her head to her toes, and boasting so many piercings she doesn’t feel comfortable in thunderstorms, she’s a household name in both the recovery community and the trail-running community. The “Dirt Diva” is approaching 27 years of sobriety, and she’s completed about 150 races of 100-plus miles. While she extols the virtues of sobriety in her super-public persona on Instagram, she spends much of her time addressing mental illness, and she takes immense pride in responding to DMs from her followers.

Our conversation with Catra was presented by Gateway Foundation. If drugs and alcohol are starting to take over your life, or the life of someone you love, it’s time to be honest and enlist some help. Gateway offers life-saving inpatient services, as well as virtual treatment. Call 877-505-HOPE to schedule a consultation, or visit gatewayfoundation.org for more information.
