Episode 29: Yoga teacher Will Black on sobriety, psychadelics

CONTENT WARNING: Putting this one at the very top this time, because Will and I discuss ayahuasca, a psychedelic drug in the form of a drink that’s brewed from plants. We also briefly discuss drinking.

Will Black, a Self Mastery coach and owner of The Balanced Self, got sober in Australia, of all places, in April 2018. A world traveler and adventurer, he was studying geography Down Under when he decided the only way he could find happiness was to put the drink down.

About a year and a half into his sobriety journey, he traveled to Costa Rice for an ayahuasca ceremony, through which he says he was able to cast out his trauma and mental illness.

Our conversation with Will was presented by DUI & Behavioral Health Counseling Centers, which has offices here in northern Illinois – in Sycamore, Plano, and Crystal Lake. If you suspect you or someone you love has a problem with drinking, drugs, mental illness or anger, call 815-895-9000 today and set up an evaluation. Visit duisycamore.com for more information.
